IO Interactive akhirnya resmi mengumumkan tanggal rilis untuk game James Bond terbaru mereka, berjudul 007 First Light. Game ini akan meluncur pada 27 Maret 2026 untuk PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, dan PC. Pengumuman ini disertai dengan penayangan gameplay perdana sepanjang lebih dari 30 menit dalam ajang PlayStation State of Play malam tadi.
Gameplay Gabungan Uncharted dan Hitman
Demo yang dipertontonkan mengambil cuplikan dari sebuah misi panjang di mana Bond harus memburu agen 009, yang disebut-sebut sudah tidak lagi berada di pihak MI6. Bond menyamar sebagai valet sebelum akhirnya harus mengejar 009 keluar gedung bersama seorang agen lain.
Kejadian ini berlanjut ke adegan kejar-kejaran mobil yang berubah menjadi baku tembak di landasan udara, hingga akhirnya Bond menyelinap masuk ke dalam pesawat saat sedang terbang. Gameplay yang diperlihatkan terasa seperti campuran aksi sinematik ala Uncharted dengan sentuhan stealth khas Hitman, sesuai reputasi IO Interactive sebagai pengembang trilogi Hitman sebelumnya.
Selain aksi intens, IO Interactive juga menekankan pentingnya gadget khas James Bond dalam gameplay. Beberapa yang ditunjukkan antara lain jam tangan berlaser yang bisa menghancurkan objek di lingkungan, serta smoke bomb untuk melarikan diri atau mengecoh musuh. Elemen ini diperkirakan akan memberi variasi strategi bagi pemain dalam menghadapi berbagai situasi.
Masalah Performa Menjadi Perhatian
Meski menampilkan banyak aksi menarik, demo gameplay yang diperlihatkan menuai sedikit kritik. Beberapa penonton menyoroti adanya frame drop cukup parah saat adegan baku tembak besar, membuat presentasi terasa kurang mulus untuk sebuah showcase besar. IO Interactive sendiri belum memberikan komentar, namun mengingat masih ada waktu sebelum peluncuran, kemungkinan besar perbaikan performa akan menjadi fokus tim pengembang.

Selain versi standar seharga US$69.99, 007 First Light juga akan hadir dalam beberapa edisi berbeda:

- Specialist Edition (fisik) – berisi semua konten Deluxe plus Classic Tuxedo skin.
- Legacy Collector’s Edition – US$299.99. Menyediakan berbagai koleksi fisik termasuk figurine Golden Gun dengan dudukan berkompartemen rahasia, steelcase magnetik, sertifikat keaslian, serta tambahan skin eksklusif dalam game.
007 First Light menjadi proyek besar pertama IO Interactive di luar Hitman setelah lama ditunggu-tunggu.
